Squirrel characters

An obvious xource of research would have to be other animated squirrel characters. It would be useful to see how squirrel movements and traits were copyed or egagerated. But, I don't want to mimic their animation style for the sake of it.

First up, the squirrel scene from "The sword and the stone"

I like the way that they kepy the movements graceful and agil, but they arn't jittery. like most of the squirrel animations i've found. These characters move semlessly from 2 legged "human movements" to running and jumping on all fours. This is pretty much waht i had in mind for my animation, but with more time spent on all fours. Another obvious one i had to cover was Scrat from "Ice Age" His movements are more jerky than i wanted.

this is a really good example of combinind squirrel and human movements. Twitchy from Hoodwinked In this clip tritchys body movements are hyper fast so that they almost jump from pose to pose. This is balenced out by him holding each pose for a while, and just twitching stightly. His tail also moves constantly, but it has to be in a move fluid, natural way, inorder to look belieavable.

True to his name, Twitchy tends to hold his poses before darting about. But even when he is comparatively still, his tail, ears, eyes and head are still going.

It would be a good idea for me to always keep something in motion on my character.
